A dollar store alteration

I spent the evening last night having fun in my craft room, making a present for a friend. (After spending a thoroughly enjoyable 2 1/2 hours watching the Sabres beat the Maple Leafs) I painted, I sanded, I distressed and I crackled... You see I bought this wooden frame from the dollar store ages ago, ( I know it says $2/6, but it was a $1-really) thinking I would make something with it someday...

When I first saw the "Devoted" kit, I thought it would make an adorable wall hanging. When I dug these frame out of my stash, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. First, I altered the frame: white acrylic paint, vintage photo distress ink, crackle accents and some sanding, produced the exact effect I wanted. I covered the backing that came with the frame with some adorable Cosmo Cricket paper from the Earth Love line, and then I added my stamped images. The tree is stamped on grungepaper, cut out and inked, the house is stamped, colored with copic markers and elevated with pop dots. The sentiment is cut out with nestabilities, label # 4, then detailed with some chalk and distress ink. I attached the metal hangers (oh how I miss Daisy D's!) and finished it off with some Ribbon accents and buttons.
