Cake anyone?

So, for some time now, I've been wanting to make a red velvet cake. Since Christmas actually, when I tasted one for the first time and thought it was just heavenly. Now, I'm not really a cake baker. I love to cook and bake, just not the traditional layer type cakes, which probably has something to do with the fact that they always come out lopsided and leaning which aggravates me to no end. Well, yesterday evening I took a wee nap and had a dream that I was baking said red velvet cake and when I woke up I just couldn't shake it ,so... 9pm and I'm at the grocery store buying the ingredients. I made cream cheese frosting and decided to use pecans (pecans seem to me to be the most "southern" nut) for decoration. I'm proud to say it came out looking like a real cake, not a sloppy, leaning mess, and now I have something to take to Monika's house tomorrow for dessert. Feast your eyes on this!
