A couple more nightlight projects

Here's 2 more projects I made with my Addicted Scrappers kit this month. The first one was a challenge for myself to create something Christmasy with this all boy kit. Sharon got these cute litle mailboxes from target and I decided to make a mini north pole mailbox. I used my favorite Fiskar's border punch for the scallops and added a healthy dose of diamond stickles for some snow like glimmer:

Now with Christmas so close I've been making lists like a fiend...grocery shopping lists, to-do lists, present lists, menus...you name it I've got a list for it...I've filled up all my notebooks! So I pulled out my bind it all, printed up some lined paper using a template from incompetech, and put together another little agenda for myself, again using the addicted scrappers kit. I think these green felt thickers are my favorite of all the thickers out there!

Night Light!

When this month's Addicted Scrappers kit came in the mail, my first thought was, oh my...this is going to be a challenge, all those little monsters, what am I gonna make with this? But when I looked beyond the monster theme, I realized, as always, October Afternoon did not dissapoint! The papers are really versatile...I even came up with an altered project for Christmas! So, I started digging through my big box of "very old, not very scrapable" pics and found some of Michal when he was a little boy. After a little PSE magic... viola, totally scrapable pics! Here's a few of the projects I've made so far with the kit:

I Love the combination of glitter and monster in this card; I think I'll use it for Michal's next birthday, a little silliness on such a serious occasion! (He'll be turning 18!!!)

I added a piece of craft paper to the kit for this layout, it just seemed like the perfect backdrop for this design. You can't tell from the pic, but the background paper is a chapter from the book "The Wind in the Willows" called "The Open Road" - how perfect for these pics?!
This layout was my favorite, I just love the way the blurry picture of my son on the slide looks here and I learned something valuable while working with this kit, especially this layout... Keep your options open...don't pigeonhole yourself into a certain style or color scheme. Explore and have fun with your art! Who would have thought I'd fall in love with a RED layout??? okay, so I added a bit of green...I couldn't help myself :)

My first acrylic album!

And I had so much fun doing it. Well, not at first...I kept flipping the pages back and forth thinking..."I'll never get this to look right" but the more I got into it, the easier it got and by the time I was done I could say that I really enjoyed myself...it's a challenge and it kinda forces you to look at your work in a different dimension.
I'm so excited for tomorrow, I leave for the Extreme Scrapbooking event at the Button Farm in New Hampshire. I've maped out my route and will be passing 8 Tim Hortons while driving through Massachesetts and Connecticut:) For those of you that have never heard about the Button farm, check them out here! Angela comes up with the most gorgeous kits! I'll be meeting Sharon, Jess and Connie...I can't wait to see you guys again! Dimitra, I miss you and can't wait till we see each other again...know that you and your daughter are in my thoughts every single day!

I love IKEA!

Yesterday I went to IKEA for a "few" things. My husband tagged along, which I soon regreted as he definately put a crimp in my creative shopping excursion. Sharon had asked me to pick up a few mirror frames and I decided to get one for myself. Here's what they look like:

Today I played around with a square punch, some crate paper, rub-ons and lots of mod podge and this is what's hanging in my living room now:

I love the way it came out and it just fits in perfectly as my living room has recently become quite "Ikea-ish" ... I think that's why hubby came along, he was worried about what I might bring home next...

Grungy, Dirty, Messy work...

and I love it!!! It's been awhile since I've worked in my favorite style, but this weekend was dedicated to painting, inking, glazing, tearing, embossing, sanding, sewing, crocheting...oh I was in Heaven! I needed to make something using cardboard for a challenge on Addicted Scrappers and I decided to make a wall hanging using a piece of cardboard as the base. I used the October Addicted Scrappers kit for the papers...lots of Pink Paislee goodness! It slowly came together as I sat happily in my scraproom, adding yet another layer of tea dye glaze or ink. I'm so happy with the way it came out and it's allready hanging on the wall! It's hard to get the feel of this piece from a picture..lots of texture from the paint, ink and glaze layers.
