Couldn't sleep last night...

I suppose it might have had something to do with the Sabres loosing to the Ottawa Senators (Grrrrr!) Oh well, I spent my time wisely and got a few more of this week's challenges done for 365 cards. This first one was for day# 340. The challenge was to have a heart be the dominant shape on the card so of course I automatically thought of the "Straight from the Heart" {ippity} set. I used the large heart on the background paper (which is the back side of the cool rose paper in the card below), colored the tree image with copics and chalks and then added glossy accents to the "heart" leaves.

The second card I made was for day# 338, the color scheme challenge - that's right, purple, pink, red and white...I fell in love with this piece of prima paper and just had to use it on this card! The hearts are from the "Devoted" set and are embossed with ranger Adirondack embossing powder in eggplant, with a touch of a white gel pen and some distress ink. I used the background stamp from the "Because of You" set on the strip of pink cardstock and the sentiment from the "Straight from the Heart" set is stamped with white SU! craft ink. Wow, that's alot of {ippity!}! The card base is simply embosed with the swiss dot embossing folder and sanded.

Thanks for dropping by!

Red+Hearts=

Valentine's day cards - and here's one that I made by request for my daughter. She wanted something simple, not too sweet and above all, it couldn't say "be my Valentine" on it. So I got the word "Happy" from a CTMH set, the words "Valentine's day" from a Melissa Francis set and the hearts are from the "Straight from the Heart" {ippity} set, which you can get here. The patterned paper is Melissa Francis and the soft muted colors just cried for a bit of acrylic paint to soften the edges of the card up. I accented the hearts with some Rock candy, glossy accents and stickles (in that order). There you go, perfect for this week's Caardvarks challenge!

a word and a card.

Happy Saturday everyone! It's a beautiful, sunny day here in Jersey and I'm listening to some Simon and Garfunkel in honor of my "one little word" for 2010 - Harmony. What's yours?
Hubby's out for a while and the kids took a road trip to Buffalo to visit family and friends so all is quite in the Ostrowski houshold...even Murphy doesn't seem to want to wake up this morning.

My son called this morning, he got a parking ticket (his first) and he's not happy. Then he called again - while going in to the 7-11 to get a money order to pay for aforementioned parking ticket, he locked his keys in the truck. (First time doing that too) I don't think he's having a very harmonious day, poor kid. I on the other hand am still in my robe, sipping coffee, listening to music and blogging away - a very good start to a peaceful weekend!

Sharing one of the things I made last night, another V-Day card, this one based on MojoMonday, sketch # 120. I am so lovin' that row of little hearts! I used the "Devoted" and "Straight from the Heart" {ippity} kits, some My Mind's Eye scraps, Nestabilities labels 3, and an old time tool called a "magic matter" to make the thin green mat around the label. Thanks for stopping by!
